bacteriaAccording to a new study, the specific types and numbers of bacteria that live on a person's skin can help identify that individual.  There are hundreds of different types of bacteria that live on our skin. Researchers have discovered that these colonies of bacteria are as unique as each individual. This has important implications for forensic science because these specific colonies of bacteria can be used to help track down someone.  For example, it could come in handy to identify a criminal who has touched surfaces where a fingerprint wouldn't show up.  Although these findings are still preliminary the ramifications are extraordinary.  Such a tool could theoretically help track down a perpetrator even when no DNA is left at a crime scene.  Read the story here.
