In Columbus, Ohio, 70 year old Robert W. Meyer was ordered to be held on a $1 million bond for three counts of aggravated murder stemming for an unsolved 1975 cold case. In June 2011, DNA analysis from the crime scene linked Meyer's DNA to the death of 17-year-old victim Karen Adams who was murdered on March 9th,1975.  Adams had been sexually assaulted and murdered.

In December 2010, Adams' clothing and undergarments were submitted by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office Cold Case Homicide Unit to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation Laboratory for DNA comparison in the CODIS database of DNA profiles from convicted offenders.  The subsequent hit in the database resulted in Meyer's arrest.
