DNA Database Identifies Suspect in 1993 Rape

Seventeen years ago, on July 4, 1993, a woman was terrorized at a New Orleans intersection by a man who stopped her by firing a bullet through her car window and then drove her to two different locations where he raped her repeatedly. But, it was only last week that the prime suspect, John Alexcee Jr., 48, finally got indicted after his DNA profile matched the biological evidence from the rape kit. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Alexcee on July 22, while prosecutors secured a grand jury indictment last week. He's now awaiting trial for the aggravated rape and kidnapping.
