On January 9th, 2012, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office announced that it had cracked a 20-year-old homicide by matching DNA found at the scene to David Lee Hedrick, 50, a computer and audio-visual hardware salesman and service provider from Apopka, FL.  He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder. Hedrick was convicted in October of 2011 of tax fraud. A Seminole County jury had found him guilty of collecting $72,000 in sales tax but failing to turn it over to the state.  This conviction required him to give a DNA sample for the Florida DNA database. The Sheriff's Office was notified on December 30th that Hedrick's DNA matched DNA found in five blood samples taken from a 1991 crime scene.  The victim, Betty Clair Foster, 50 of Altamonte Springs, Fl, was working alone as a receptionist at a computer store the afternoon of Jan. 31, 1991, when she was stabbed and killed.
